Neiden

Neiden is situated only 10 km from the Finnish border, 42 km west of Kirkenes along the E6. The settlement

is renowned for its excellent salmon river, and for being the centre of culture for the Norwegian

Eastern Sami people. There are also many people of Finnish origin here. Geologically the Neiden settlement

is very special. The heights along the Neiden River are the old seabed and this shows in the straight lines

in the terrain.

Käpälä fishing

Traditional East Sami net casting, can be seen in Skoltefossen waterfall every summer: Mon-Fri every second hour from 6 am to 2 pm (break from 2 pm -6 pm).

St Georg’s Chapel

Russian Orthodox chapel from 1565. Annual outdoor mass on the last Sunday in August.

Neiden Chapel

Norwegian wooden church erected in 1902 as a border protection against Finland.

Mikkelsnes

Excellent beach, recreational area and nature reserve.

The Neiden River

Very popular salmon river whichwas voted Norway’s 7th best in 1997, measured by the number of kilos

of salmon caught here. Fishing licences are sold several places in Neiden.

Neiden Fjellstue

Located 50 km from Kirkenes by the Finnish border. Log cabins with good standard. Shower/toilet and sauna in a service building, Cafe, Caravan/tent places. 6 well-equipped hiking cabins in the mountain. Hiking cabins with sauna and marked paths.

We pick up and bring guest/smaller groups on agreement.
